Injured Gul out of Champions Trophy
Umar Gul will be out of action for about three months
the Pakistan fast bowler, has been ruled out of the
Champions Trophy due to an injured right knee. He sustained the injury
last month after the Centurion ODI against South Africa and has been sidelined since.
He will fly to Melbourne for surgery in the first week of May. The
injury also means he will miss the fixtures against Ireland and Scotland
next month.
"Gul complained of right knee pain during the recently concluded one-day
series against South Africa," a PCB spokesman confirmed. "He was rested
for the last two one-dayers for imminent damage to his medial meniscus
and bone of the right knee. A later MRI scan confirmed a full thickness
tear of the posterior horn of medial meniscus with patchy bone bruising
on his right knee.
"In order to expedite his return to cricket and quick rehabilitation,
PCB have contacted Dr Alexander David Young in Australia, who in his
initial reports has confirmed damage to his right knee and has given a
timeline of 8-12 weeks for his full recovery (after the surgery)."
Clinical Super Kings thump Delhi

In the school of Chennai Super Kings cricket, they swear by a formula.
Ten times six plus ten times 10 equals a winning total on a slow pitch.
The corollary is, ten times six often begets ten times ten. On Thursday,
Super Kings followed that formula like front-benching geeks. They
reached 60 for 1 in 10 overs, then switched gears to score 109 in the
last 10 with Michael Hussey and MS Dhoni turning it on like only they
can. The chase was killed by the time Virender Sehwag joined David
Warner and Mahela Jayawardene back in the dugout. Delhi Daredevils have
lost all of their six matches in this year's IPL.

Inspired Warriors pull off huge CSK upset
IPL:Pune Warriors Beat Chennai Super Kings by 25 Runs
Pune Warriors 159 for 5 (Finch 67, Smith 39*, Morris 2-25) beat Chennai Super Kings 135 for 8 (Badrinath 34, Bhuvneshwar 2-12) by 24 runs
The first ball Finch faced he drilled back past Dirk Nannes for four. He
would hit seven more fours in the Powerplay. With a short back lift and
a punch packed behind them. Robin Uthappa at the other end, though,
fumbled his way to nine off 12 at the end of the Powerplay. The singles
didn't come, Uthappa kept struggling, but Finch kept hitting enough
boundaries to take this stand to the best opening for Warriors ever.
Then came on R Ashwin's spin and Chris Morris' bustle, and Warriors lost
their way. In going from 96 for 0 to 128 for 4, they consumed 29 balls
and looked set for a below-par total, especially after the 18th over
produced just three runs. However, Smith, who wouldn't even have played
but for the Tamil Nadu government's problem with Sri Lankan cricketers,
had other ideas. He went crazy against Nannes and Dwayne Bravo,
reverse-flicking the latter for a huge six over third man in the final
over. Twenty-eight came off those last two overs, but this was still a
strictly fighting total.
